1.MECHANISM OF ACTION

The peptide exerts its effects through two primary mechanisms. First, it directly binds to and activates pertussis toxin-sensitive heterotrimeric G proteins (Gi/o family), stimulating GTPase activity and downstream signaling without receptor involvement. Second, its cationic and amphipathic structure allows it to insert into phospholipid bilayers, disrupting membrane integrity, forming pores, and facilitating calcium influx and mast cell degranulation.

2.PRODUCT INDICATIONS

This product is indicated for fundamental research in pharmacology, cell biology, and biochemistry. It serves as a critical tool for: investigating non-receptor-mediated G-protein signaling pathways, studying mast cell and basophil activation and histamine release, probing mechanisms of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), and as a model compound for researching peptide-lipid interactions and membrane poration.

3.CLINICAL EFFICACY OF PRODUCT

Polistes Mastoparan itself is not used as a therapeutic agent. Its efficacy lies in its robust and reliable activity as a research probe. Studies utilizing this peptide have significantly advanced the understanding of G-protein function and membrane disruption, providing foundational knowledge that informs the design of novel drug candidates, including antimicrobial agents and targeted cell-penetrating peptides in preclinical development.
