1.MECHANISM OF ACTION

Biotin-Neuropeptide Y (human, rat) is a biotinylated 36-amino acid peptide (C-terminal amidated) with conserved cross-species activity, retaining the full biological function of native NPY while enabling streptavidin/avidin-based applications. It acts as a selective ligand for all NPY receptor subtypes (Y1, Y2, Y4, Y5, Y6), which are G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) widely expressed in the central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and cardiovascular system. Upon receptor binding, it activates Gi/o and Gq-dependent intracellular signaling pathways, inhibiting cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) production and modulating intracellular calcium levels to regulate downstream physiological processes.

2.PRODUCT INDICATIONS

Investigation of NPY receptor (Y1-Y6) signaling pathways and their roles in appetite regulation, energy homeostasis, and neuronal function

Streptavidin/avidin-based experiments: receptor localization (immunofluorescence), ligand-receptor binding assays, and NPY-associated protein purification

Screening and validation of NPY receptor agonists/antagonists via in vitro assays (calcium mobilization, cAMP inhibition, and competitive binding assays)

3.CLINICAL EFFICACY OF PRODUCT

In NPY receptor functional assays, it serves as a reliable positive control and tracing tool to evaluate the efficacy of NPY-targeted drug candidates for obesity, hypertension, and neurological disorders

In human and rat models of metabolic disorders, it aids in elucidating the role of NPY signaling in appetite and energy metabolism, supporting the development of anti-obesity therapeutics

Its streptavidin-binding property enables the development of high-sensitivity immunoassays for NPY-receptor interactions, laying the groundwork for clinical diagnostic tools in endocrinology and neuroscience
