About this product

Product information from the supplier.

Product Overview

Formaldehyde is the simplest aldehyde – a reactive compound that readily polymerizes and cross-links with proteins and other organic molecules. Unlike acids or oxidizers, its primary value lies in its ability to form chemical bonds between molecules. This cross-linking property explains why it serves as the foundation for synthetic resin manufacturing.

The product finds application in three main categories: resin production (urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde adhesives for wood products), disinfection (animal housing, hatcheries, and laboratory equipment), and preservation (tissue fixation in medical and biological laboratories). What sets Formaldehyde apart from other aldehydes is its combination of low cost, high reactivity, and water solubility.

Typical specification: 37% formaldehyde content, stabilized with 10-15% methanol to prevent polymerization. Other concentrations available on request.

Grades Available: Industrial | Technical

Why Choose Our Formaldehyde Solution

High Reactivity for Resin Synthesis – The aldehyde group readily reacts with urea, phenol, and melamine to form thermosetting resins. These adhesives bond wood particles, plywood layers, and fiberboard – applications where strong, water-resistant bonds are essential.

Stabilized Formulation – Methanol stabilizer prevents auto-polymerization during storage and transport. Extended shelf life compared to unstabilized product.

Consistent Concentration – Tight control on formaldehyde content ensures predictable resin yields for adhesive manufacturers.

Flexible Packaging – Supplied in 200L drums and 1000L IBC. Bulk tanker loads available for large-volume customers. All shipments comply with IMDG Code with proper toxic labeling.

Export Track Record – 13 years in hazardous chemical exports. Full documentation ensures smooth customs clearance.

Solutions We Provide

Wood Adhesive Manufacturing – Plywood, particleboard, and MDF production consumes the majority of industrial formaldehyde. It reacts with urea to form urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin – the standard adhesive for interior wood products. For exterior grades, phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin offers better water resistance. Our consistent formaldehyde content delivers predictable resin viscosity and bond strength.

Textile Finishing – In textile processing, formaldehyde-based resins create wrinkle-resistant and permanent-press finishes on cotton fabrics. The resin cross-links cellulose fibers, helping garments hold their shape after washing. Our technical grade provides uniform reactivity for consistent finishing results.

Disinfection & Fumigation – Poultry houses, hatcheries, and livestock facilities use formaldehyde solution for space disinfection. Atomized or vaporized formalin kills bacteria, viruses, and fungal spores. It also disinfects equipment and surfaces in agricultural and laboratory settings.

Tissue Preservation (Formalin) – Mixed with buffers, formaldehyde solution (formalin) fixes biological tissues for histology and pathology. It cross-links proteins, preserving cellular structure for microscopic examination. This application requires consistent concentration and low impurities.

Laboratory Reagent – Research laboratories use formaldehyde as a fixative, as a reducing agent in certain assays, and as a starting material for organic synthesis. Our technical grade meets typical laboratory requirements.

Agricultural Chemical Intermediate – Formaldehyde serves as a starting material for producing various agricultural chemicals, including certain herbicides, fungicides, and growth regulators.

Related Products & Important Notice

Urea (CH₄N₂O) – Reacts with formaldehyde to produce urea-formaldehyde resin; wood adhesive manufacturers often purchase both

Methanol (CH₃OH) – Stabilizer component and co-product; some customers require both for resin production

Paraformaldehyde ((CH₂O)ₙ) – Solid polymerized form; customers needing both liquid and solid formats may purchase either

Note: Formaldehyde is chemically distinct from acids and oxidizers. It does not react similarly and should not be compared.

Important – Toxic Vapor – Ventilation Required

Formaldehyde releases pungent, irritating vapor, especially when heated. It is classified as a carcinogen. Under IMDG regulations, segregate from strong oxidizers and alkalis. Store in well-ventilated areas. Use appropriate personal protective equipment. Contact us to plan your shipment.
