The box holds a black sponge with cuts made for each type of piece. Earrings and rings sit in the cross cuts, necklaces and bracelets lie in the slot, and bangles use the angled cuts at the side. Each piece is held where you put it, so nothing slides into another piece, metal parts do not rub against each other and do not get scratched. With the lid on, there is still space between the jewellery and the lid, so nothing is pressed down.

The outside is wrapped in textured art paper, so there is a fine grain under your fingers, and the core is thick card that does not sink when you press the walls. The edges and the cut lines come from die cutting, so the lines are straight, the lid sits flush, and the box opens without catching your hand or jamming. The box is small, but it has weight in the hand and does not look thin on a counter.

These jewellery boxes and the sponge trays inside them are made in our own factory — we do not buy the box from one supplier and the sponge from another.
