Pebbled Texture Paper Bag With Satin Ribbon Handle

The bag is made of pebbled white specialty card with a leather-like surface: run your fingers across it and you feel a fine grain rather than a smooth slide. Under the light the grain gives the white some depth and does not throw back one hard highlight, so the bag reads calmer than glossy paper, and with the black satin handle and the gold print it has a quiet luxury look.

The embossing, the foil stamping, the mouth gluing and the handle fitting all run one after another in our workshop, without sending the work out. Foil on this paper is harder than foil on a smooth sheet: press too hard and the grain flattens into a shiny patch, press too lightly and the letters come out thin, so the foil step is set up on its own and every bag is held to the light after it comes off. Gluing the mouth is the same story — grain paper takes glue differently from smooth paper, so the amount is controlled and the bag is pressed long enough, or the mouth lifts. The pebbled paper is ordered ahead for each job, so one batch uses one paper and the grain does not change halfway through. For quantity, a few hundred for a trial and full runs are both fine, and the foil colour is matched to one sample so a repeat order matches the first one.
