The Face Is Cut Out
The smile is a cut-out in the front panel, not a print, so it shows whatever is behind it. Above it are two black dots, which are set on the bag as the eyes. When the bag holds flowers or paper strands, the colour comes through the curve of the smile. Other colours can be made for an order, so a shop is not tied to red and pink. Because the smile is a hole in the panel, a shop can leave the front unprinted and the face still carries the design.
The Window in Front
The window is clear PET, set into the front panel, and it keeps the bag closed while showing what is inside. Two window shapes are made, a rounded square and a circle for a smaller bag. Because the film is clear, a bouquet or a wrapped soap can be judged from the outside. The window sits below the smile, so the two do not compete for the same space. The window version is ordered on its own, so a shop can start with the plain smile bag and add the window later.
Where the Handle Is Fixed
The handle is a paper rope with a crepe finish, and it is not glued to the face of the bag. It passes through the top panel, and a black rivet is set over each end. The rivets sit outside, so the inside of the bag is left flat when it is filled. The rope is made in the colour of the bag, so red carries red and pink carries pink.
How the Base Is Made
- The base: folded from the same sheet and glued flat.
- The shape: a square base, so the bag stands on its own.
- Inside: the glued base leaves a flat floor for a small pot.
- In use: the bag is opened out from the top and the base stays square.
Where These Bags Go
- In a flower shop: a small bouquet goes in, with paper strands under it.
- At a birthday party: sweets and small toys are handed out in them.
- On Mother's Day: a single plant or a wrapped gift goes out in one.
- In an online order: the bag is packed in a carton and posted as it is.
What Our Factory Is Good At
Our factory makes small paper bags of this kind, which means the die, the folding and the gluing are all done in one place. The smile and the window are cut in the same die pass, so the shape of the face is the same on every bag. The base is glued by machine and pressed while it sets, so it comes out flat. The rivets are set with a press rather than by hand, so they sit at the same height on every bag. Because the work is kept in house, a change of colour or a change of size only means a new die and a new run of paper. Orders are packed by colour and by size, so a shop opens a carton and finds the lots it asked for.
