What the V Groove Does to the Box Corners
A V groove is cut along the fold lines, so the board can turn on those lines without bulging. Because the cut is a V and not a crease, the corners come out sharp and the walls meet on a clean edge. The lid is part of the same board, and it turns on the long groove at the back. On the front, the groove runs down the sides, which is where the box keeps its shape.
How the Lid Finds the Magnet and Closes
The magnet is set inside the board at the front edge of the box, so nothing shows on the outside. When the lid comes down, the magnet meets the plate and the lid stays closed. The lid is opened by taking the front edge and lifting it, and one hand is enough. Because the magnets are set at two points, the lid comes down level instead of at an angle.
Why the Black Box Is Black Inside Too
- The black box: lined in black, so the inside is as dark as the outside.
- The white box: lined in white paper.
- The kraft box: lined in white paper, which sets a gift off against the kraft outside.
- The lining: a paper cut to the shape of the base and laid inside the tray.
What the Matt Film Does on the Outside

What Is Ready and What Is Made to Order
Three papers are kept ready, kraft, white card and black card, in a range of sizes. A shop can take a small lot from what is ready and see how it sells. A logo or a pattern is printed as a made to order run. Colours and sizes can be mixed in one order, so a first order covers a few products.
What Our Factory Checks Before Packing
Our factory opens and closes every box in a lot, to check that the lid meets the magnet. The V groove is looked at along each corner, because a shallow groove is where a box goes out of square. The film is checked against the light, so a scratch is seen before the box is packed. Boxes are counted by size and colour, and packed in the order the sizes were asked for. A sample box from the lot is kept, so the next order can be held against it.
